Activities Plan

Past Activity

Climate Change Board— Discuss about the bad effects of climate change and what each person can do to help.
Character Notebooks—Our first activity to raise money was by making notebooks produced from 100% recycled paper. These notebooks are unique because they represent the characters of the owners. We would take pictures of the clients and take notes of their personalities and then our club’s artists will draw and color the notebooks. Each person will possess a notebook of which the existence is unique to oneself.
Valentine’s Board—As Valentine’s Day approached, we wanted to remind everyone about the love we all should give to the Earth. So, this was the board where people wrote about how much they loved the Earth and what they would do to save her.
Planting Trees— On the 25th of April 2010, 14 members of the PSC went to Maepimporn Temple, Samutsongkarm with Thaivolunteer Nonprofit Organization to plant trees to mitigate climate change. We planted a total of 300 trees. We made new friends and gained exceptional experience.

Ongoing Activity

Green Fact on Moodle— Post a weekly concise green fact on Moodle (a homework page), so students can read a bit about environmental issues every time they log onto the site.
Sustainability Club website— Provide basic information about climate change, inform students and teachers about activities we are up to and how we did in the previous ones, and update all news about the club.
Recycling— Provide each classroom with a box for students to recycle paper. Each month, the classroom that recycles the most will receive treats (pizza, ice cream, etc.) from us (this can encourage them to bring used paper from their homes). In front of the building there will be boxes for students and teachers to recycle plastic glasses and plastic bottles.
Green Peace Sign— Stick green signs on electronic machines (elevator, printer, etc.) to remind students and teachers to use less and save more energy.
Medals— Give medals for teachers who do unique things to reduce their impact on climate change.
Visiting Speakers— Invite speakers who usually talk about environmental problems to come to the school to discuss the problems with us.
Organic Food Sale— Sell organic food to raise money for the club. The profit we make will be spent on the club’s activities to ensure that our message about mitigating climate change is heard. Most of the money will be spent on buying treats for the classroom that wins the paper recycling competition, which is also a way to reward those who have done well.

Future Activity

Outdoor Activity— Take the club members and other interested students to do some outdoor activity (planting trees, cleaning beaches, etc.). Other than reducing our impact on the environmental issues, we would be meeting people who want to accomplish the same thing. We can help each other create a network, and also have fun together.
Creative Recycling— Arrange a competition for students to invent something new from used materials (paper, bottles, cloth, etc). The one who comes up with most creative and practical object will receive a reward, which is not decided upon what it is going to be.
Painting Your Own Bags— Arrange an activity for interested people to paint their own cotton bags which will be used instead of plastic bags.
